I really do enjoy what I do.  I create by telling a story and inspiring the human heart.  I am an editor and I put things together in order to capture your attention that you might know Christ more and deeper.

Capturing the Energy

My friend recently asked if I would do a photo shoot with his pregnant wife and his little girl.  I accepted knowing that I would be able to capture some beautiful moments.  I researched around to see what other photographers were doing with the task of a pregnant woman. And to my surprise all of them were alike.  It seems that every woman wants the Demi Moore photograph. But that wasn’t my style or taste.  I wanted to tell a story of love, to display the beauty of a woman awaiting her new child.  I wanted it to be as real as possible and not “set up”.

I pass by this old church every day to work. Since its been raining a lot here in California this past winter, the grass was green and the sky was blue.  Since film captures color so well, I thought I would try this place out for the photo shoot.  I came across a few different difficulties.  First, by the time everyone was ready the sun was now bright and harsh.  Second, the wind.  With these elements I had to adjust and use it to my advantage. Another was the energy of the little girl.  She didn’t want to stay still, so I told her to play.  The photos of her playing and being her self ended up being some of my favorites.

As for the young mom, she was great. She took direction great, not feeling awkward with the camera.  Instead she pretended I wasn’t even there, which I love.  It’s then I can really do my best, I can now observe and capture love.

Zero Budget

Today while in a marketing meeting with the creative departments here at the Rock, someone mentioned that we work with a zero dollar budget.  That got me thinking that everything I have created has always been with zero dollar budget.  As for equipment, I’ve always been able to use the church camera.  I began to day dream on what I could create if I was given a budget.

But its also nice to know that I don’t need one in order to be creative.

Here is the latest video I created:  Men’s Conference 2010.  Currently working on Men’s Conference 2011, which is due in a week.

Embrace your personality in your ART

I am starting to learn to embrace my personality in my work.  I created a cut of outtakes for facebook of some recordings I did for the weekend announcements.  My friend who is in the video shared with me that a woman from North Carolina, who he never met messaged him on facebook that the video she just randomly found and watched made her day.  She had been going through a horrible divorce and went on facebook to block it all out.  After coming across the video her day was brightened.  She even checked out my friends music video and the song touched her heart as well.  Just what she needed in a such a dark time in her life.  I was grateful she shared her story with my friend.  I am learning to not be afraid of being funny, creative, weird, dramatic, everything that I am in my work.  Here are the outtakes.  I Hope it makes you laugh as well.
