Black and White shoot

I decided to change what I was looking for during this shoot. I found the real change was in the editing room. When I was picking out the photos -the usual ones I would disregard I decided to keep and my normal shots, I disregarded.

I for one love color but I wanted different results so I went black and white. I wanted to capture the eyes attention and keep it. Black and white has that power.

Here is Olivia.

Color….. I couldn’t help myself. :)

What happened to my baby grand daughter?

  2. Love the colored versions more but the B&W is really well done, the contrast on them is just right…. at least to me it is :)

    • Thanks, yeah I really liked some of the shots in color, I felt like it brought more life to them. I guess the learning part is knowing when black and white is appropriate. Some of the shots worked better when I took the color away. I worked hard on that contrast to get it just right, so thank you!! haha

I certainly agree that here, the B&W fits the occasion. There’s something refreshing about the stark B&W approach that lends mystery to a fascinating subject. The color comparisons seem pale and somehow cooler, less intense. For me, very pleasing work, Monica.

  4. I love messing around with photos; color, B&W, sepia. Loving your photos:)
