Event: Collector Car Auction
When Gus told me he was on the production team for a collector car auction I insisted he get me a ticket. Seeing classic cars is like traveling back in time. I picture the families that use to own it, the conversations that took place, the adventures, the everyday moments like going to the grocery store. It takes me back to a time I only see in movies, a time when life was simple.
All the cars were so unique from each other with amazing details. I decided to photograph what makes each car special.
Decades later we call these cars a work of art.
When I saw this black Chevy I was taken back to my childhood. My dad use to have one and he loved it. I remember when a random man came to our door and offered him cash for it. I can recall the look of sadness on my dad’s face, it was hard for him to let it go but finally did.
When I went inside for the auction it was amazing how much these cars were going for. Each one was going for no less than 40, 000. A black mustang went for 100, 000.
This 1960′s Porsche was my favorite!!!
Each car held its own beauty. The closer I looked the more elegant it became.
The Time Machine was even there! But not for sale 
Being at the auction I understood the heart of the buyer. My emotions would take over and I would pay anything. I pictured myself ridding the car in the sunset, cruising. Yes, if I had that much money I would say, “I worked hard for my dollars, why not.” haha..

Beautiful! Just this weekend, I was lucky enough to ride in a 1948 Chrysler Town & Country Woody convertible…I think I may have been bitten by the classic car bug!
Is it amazing how a car can make you feel so beautiful haha.. I mean as you ride down the street, everyone is turning their heads and smiling at your car. My friend’s dad has a classic car and love it when he lets us take it for a ride.
There is nothing better than owning a classic car… The feelings that you experience are second to none, and every classic has got a unique “old car smell” which I just love… It just “feels right” all the time! And it is great to see the admiration and appreciation of the older generations who grew up with the car you are driving, really cool stuff! Great post with some beautiful photos!

my first blog, im a laid off mechanic on maui. I look at cars and that is all about growing up in royal oak mich. working in the family arco stattion in the 1970′s. the cars that came in were from the 50′s and 60′s so it feels like home to me. aloha joe todd

Beautiful but sad. I remember when a lot of them were new. I got my first driving lesson on a 1957 Continental convertible; what a beauty! And my next one was on a 1953 Chevy. Wouldn’t mind owning either one today (I wish!).
Wow! This really takes me back. Some of these beauties are real works of art. I remember an old LasSalle that my dad had back in 1948. What a car…what a ride. Your photography really stirs the old memories. I wish I had even one of these classic machines. Oh well, my old Toyota will have to do. Thanks for the show!

Wow! This really takes me back to the days when cars were made of metal, had carbs, and a backyard mechanic could have a field day keeping the machines running. I remember an old LaSalle my day have back in the late 40s…what a car, what a ride, what a memory. I’ll never be able to have one of these classic beauties, but I can dream. For now, I guess my Honda van will have to do. Thanks for the memories!

“True that”. Nowadays, one needs a computer science degree to fix anything is a modern car. That’s why I still have my ’74 Mercury Comet. Even a dufuss such as I can keep this hunk of metal running. Great photo shoot! Russ

Life was never simple, except in the movies. But those cars are beautiful lies of a high order and I’m no a car fan. Beautiful automobiles, beautiful pictures. They are painted so exquisitely. I forgot how important a good paint job is to a car, just like make-up for a woman – an invidious, irresistable, but not misogynistic, analogy.
The cars look like they were made for aerodynamic motion, a zooming silence. Frozen in motion, they look tragically still. They’re asking to be bought, like big-eyed puppies in a pound. I’d say that auction was a great success.
Yo, these are kool pix… Got any more of that black Jaguar MK2? Were there any late 70s Cadillac’s there? I like the 78 Seville – it was before they chopped off the trunk. It was the one that rode a little high. The dude who runs the blog I write for sold his DeLorean a year ago!
