Family Shoots are so fun. I get the honor of capturing love. Michael and Krista have become great friends of mine. I was happy when Krista asked me to take their family portraits because that meant I got to hang out with them! :) Their young family is so adorable.

Photos: David and Jacob

How boring life would be without these two boys in my life. My youngest nephew, Jacob turned a year old yesterday. To allow my sister to get ready for his party, David spent a night at our house. I somehow tricked him in to coming outside with me to do some photos. He decided he would give me a variety of expressions to choose from…which I loved.

David: 3 years old

Jacob: 1 year old

I can’t wait until Jacob learns to talk. I’m so curious to see what he will say. I can tell he is going to be the one observing everything. During his party he needed a nap but instead wanted to stay up to watch everyone.

Children Photography: Natalie Sunshine

I have been wanting to take photos of Natalie for a while now. She is my nephew’s cousin. Little did I know that one year old’s like to do their own thing. I tried to give her directions but when I saw she just wanted to play, I decided to follow her around. It got dark really fast, so not only was I taking photos of a moving child but also in the dark. Even my nephew tried to help me but Natalie was on a playground, this was her chance to be free.

Can you believe I have some cousins that I haven’t met yet? My cousin now has children of his own and is married. I met Mariah once but hadn’t seen the youngest. My how fast they grow. haha. His wife got the kids ready and met me at the park. The kids were so good in front of the camera. Their mom said its cause she takes a million photos of them every day. haha. Isaac had a pretty bad cut on his face that I airbrushed out on a few. As for Mariah, she’s a beauty :) They both did so good.

You never know until you try. This time I arrived with a shot list of ideas for the kids. I figure if I learn how to direct kids, then I’ll be great at directing adults.

The Gorton kids arrived bright and early. They were great at helping each other and neither of them were shy.

I love how their mom brought their pet chicken.

Thank you to the Gorton kids for being so darn cute.
